Nazanin Bakhshandeh 2025

My perception of drawing and its expansion into the realm of colors forms the foundation of my work. I have always remained faithful to figurative painting, yet with an affinity towards entanglement and the transmutation of objects, I dilute these figures to the threshold of abstraction, which for me, defines the edge of reality.
Abstraction, to me, is a realm where independent identities fade, and their ambiguous relationships with each other and the surrounding space inspire emotions and poems that I attempt to compose on canvas.
For this collection, I chose the title "Faded Identities" because it mimics the way of the subjects in my work. Still life, people, and animals merge and blur into one another, becoming a pure blend of feeling and form. It also reflects the personal changes in my identity after migration.
