Fereydoun Ave's Recent Works
By now, we know that all of Fereydoun Ave’s works are in praise of the four sacred elements: Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. In this body of recent works, we focus on his flowers, whose growth, from seed to bloom, depends on water, sunlight, air, and earth, embodying the interconnected processes that make life possible. We see how he treads the line of realism and impressionism as he depicts natural elements as if they’re exploding out of their realistic form. He combines pastel and acrylic on canvas and watercolour paper, layering gestural marks to create tactile, textured surfaces. Through his use of mixed media and abstraction, he strives to evoke a sense of longing for nature amid urbanization.
