Ghasem Hajizadeh

Ghasem Hajizadeh is a pioneering voice in Iranian Pop Art and a prominent figure in diaspora art. Currently living in Paris, he began his career after studying at the Tehran High School of Fine Arts (1967). Influenced by Ardeshir Mohassess, Hajizadeh transitioned from abstraction to figurative Pop Art, merging nostalgic imagery with satirical resonance and personal narrative. Hajizadeh’s paintings are inspired by old family photographs and historical images—either real or imagined—blended together through techniques such as watercolor, gouache, pencil, pastel, and varnish. He transforms personal and collective memory into dreamlike, surreal compositions he calls "fictional nostalgia".
His work is included in prestigious collections such as the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, the Bangladesh National Museum, and the International Museum of Naïve Art in France.
