Bahareh Navabi

Bahareh Navabi, born in 1985 in Tehran, Iran, is a contemporary artist renowned for her exploration of memory, identity, and abstraction. She graduated from the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she honed her distinctive artistic approach. Navabi’s work seamlessly bridges hyper-realistic portraiture and abstract forms, employing innovative techniques to evoke themes of self-reflection and personal exploration.

She frequently uses polyester tracing paper as her primary medium, a choice that enables her to craft layered compositions reflecting mental images, memories, and projections. The transparency of this material allows her to create an interplay of superimposed levels, symbolizing the fluid boundaries between appearance and disappearance, as well as construction and deconstruction. Drawing inspiration from the palimpsest method, she builds and erases imagery by adding or removing layers, mirroring the dynamic process of memory and thought.

Some of her notable exhibitions include Carnaval de la Vie at Nicolas Flamel Gallery in Paris, Boundless Momentary at The Mine Gallery in Dubai, and Monochromatic Silence and Le Théâtre de la Vie at Dastan Gallery in Tehran. Additionally, she has participated in major art fairs such as Art Dubai, Drawing Now, Salon du Dessin in Paris, and the Lyon Biennale.
