Zartosht Soltani
Zartosht Soltani is an Iranian painter known for his deeply symbolic and expressive works that merge Persian cultural heritage with contemporary aesthetics. Working primarily in mixed media and acrylic on canvas, Soltani explores themes of identity, mythology, and existential reflection through layered textures and dreamlike figures. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Painting from Azad Tehran University in 1999, he relocated to the United States, expanding his practice into animation, design, and visual storytelling.
His early career in Iran beyond painting, included serving as Art Director and Graphic Designer at Neda Rayaneh, the country’s first multimedia and web design company. He later led campaigns, packaging design, and TV spot animation for the Rouzaneh brand as well. In the U.S., he continued a multidisciplinary career spanning film, television, and commercial media, contributing to projects such as Fahrenheit 9/11 and Desert One, and collaborating with big names such as Barbara Kopple and Michael Moore. From 2005 to 2017, he was Art Director and Animation Designer at Flickerlab in New York, and worked with clients including Disney, Cartoon Network, and MTV.
Alongside his media work, he has exhibited across the Middle East, Europe, and North America, in over 25 solo and group exhibitions. His paintings often evoke a poetic dialogue between tradition and modernity, embodying a unique visual language that resonates across cultures. In 2025 published DEEV, a graphic novel they wrote and illustrated. The book brings together decades of visual storytelling into a singular, personal narrative that reflects the full scope of his artistic evolution.
